From CRISPR screens to breakthrough: Bert defends PhD

Time to celebrate!

Our dear colleague and friend Bert Kwanten successfully defended his PhD. In his thesis, he used CRISPR−Cas9 screening to identify genes that influence the response to the cancer drug selinexor, which targets XPO1. The results of these screens laid the foundation for uncovering a novel allosteric mechanism by which selinexor mediates targeted degradation of XPO1.

It was a pleasure to share this special moment together with all members of our lab.
